Denver Zombie Crawl 2011
The Denver Zombie Crawl was this past Saturday! Occupy Denver Zombies were mixed in with the crowd along with some r/Denver kids. From the pics and the vid, Denver really likes zombies.

Tonight! Amon Tobin’s sold out show in Denver. Isam Live has been one of the most talked about electronic shows on tour ever. The visual mapping, stage design, and audio all are tuned to an epic frequency, and tonight it all pops off!
I’ll be posting images live during this event. Video will go up tomorrow!
The opener (Emika), while good, is holding back. The crowd is here for visuals. She has a very dark set. Weird choice for an opener. I dig her sound though (it seems like the crowd does too). Dubstep light with vocals.
Someone just pointed out the projectors to me. Holy hell these things are big. I’ll try and get a pic after the show. (Next day update: Never got to take the pic.)
Damn! I’ll post later. Haveta watch this. Images and video below!
This video has to be my favorite from the set.
Wrote this earlier this year (2011), still applies.
When I first moved to Denver, I might have still been in one of the many party modes of my life. I could have been out and about, lost and wandering the streets of Denver until I found a specific bar to lend my patronage. Fortunately I didn’t have to do this. One of my best friends happened to become a Denver DJ at around the same time I moved to Denver. Instead having to navigate the Denver nightlife scene solo, I jumped right into the LoDo scene as a VIP guest. It was awesome, it is awesome, and it will continue to be awesome well into the future.
This is a quick guide for those new to the Denver Scene and for those who may want a refresher course on some happening spots in the heart of the city. Assume that all LoDo lounges and bars are dress to impress.
Lavish
Lavish lounge is my central hub for spots to visit during a night in the city. Located on the corner of 15th and Market, this wonderfully interior designed spot boasts a wide range of classy locals looking to rock out in style. The people are beautiful, the drinks are great, and the service is impeccable. The DJ usually knows what he (or she) is doing. If you are looking for a fun place to get bottle service, check out Lavish for some memorable times.
MYNT
Right down the street from Lavish is the MYNT. Another fun lounge specializing in mixed Mojitos. Usually a quick stop if you are lounge hopping. Definitely a good place to stop in and check out one of the better interior designs in the city.
24K
For some reason that I haven’t been able to place, I absolutely love stopping in at 24K. About the same size as MYNT, 24K always seems to have the right combination of people, music, design, and drinks. It’s fun all the time, every time. It also has two entrances. One on Market and one in the back alley.
5 Degrees
5 Degrees is fun some nights and ok on others. It’s best to go here with some friends.
The Front Porch
Always packed. I’m giving this lounge best interior design. It seems to change every few months. Very progressive and packed with locals. Dress to impress. Hit up their website for name nights and special events. If it’s your name night, you drink for free. Coin toss nights are epic.
1515 and Oasis
These two are located right next to each other. If you make it to either one, try to find out what’s happening in advance. There have been some epic parties at these places. Totally worth checking out. Little known fact: one of them has a Hookah Bar downstairs.
Nallen’s Irish Pub
An Irish pub located across the street from the MYNT and next to Old Chicago’s. This little bundle of fun has always provided some epic times. The upstairs is an outdoor drinking patio for some crazy summer nights. Come as you are.
Maloney’s
Not as much of a dress to impress place as the others but definitely part of the LoDo scene. This is a wild place that is great to bring your friend’s to. Next to the MYNT. Try to get here a bit earlier if you are planning on going. No need to wait in a line.
Wicked Garden
Located on 14th and Larimer, this is the one lounge that always seems a bit darker. It’s started to become a bit of a hotspot to go check out. Tons of fun. Usually good music. Get it.
Suite 200
Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This nightclub is a bit more difficult to get into. If you’re male, expect to pay. Always dress to impress. No tennis shoes. Great staff. Decent beats. Best VIP room.
Beta
Beta is probably the best dance spot in Denver on a night to night basis. If you want some WHOMP, go check out the BPL (Beatport Lounge). If you want to just go out and dance, get here. Definitely has the best non-portable sound system in Denver. Bring earplugs.
LoDo (The Bar) and Sports Bar
Awesome outdoor patio spots. Not considered to be too classy. Totally fun in a group of friends. Also is a hot dance spot on select nights. Both places I have found to be interchangeable… Except on Thursdays. Go to Sports Bar on Thursdays for $.50 you call its.
Cowboy Lounge
If I’m out in LoDo on a Thursday, I make sure to stop by Cowboy Lounge. The crowd is always a crazy mix of fun and interestingly dressed people. Some just dress up, others are straight up Cowboy. If you want to act silly and dance your booty off, this is your spot. Mix of country music and top 40′s.
Bonus: La Rumba/Lipgloss
Every Friday night, the nightclub La Rumba becomes Lipgloss. Fun and totally danceable. Very worth checking out.
TLDR for all of those too busy to read: Old site died, welcome to new site, now more personal, still sending you info, I’m a nerd.
Ah! The first post on the new site. How awesome! How epic! How entertaining? Maybe, maybe not. No worries though. I’m back. Wanna know what happened to the last site? No? Screw it I’m telling you anyway (short form, stick with me.)
The last DXD site’s servers got hacked. Brutally hacked. Think ‘Saving Private Ryan’ beach scene meets science fiction Death Replicators. If the sites on the server were people, it would have been a massacre, and the bad guys won. I mean, if I physically had that server, I would have probably gone ‘Office Space’ on it. Not out of hatred for the machine though, no. I would have done it out of the fear that one of those deathbots might still be alive (and they are, out there, somewhere…). Woe to those that meet the deathbots, for they are a mighty bitchy foe.
After the initial attack, I attempted to ressurect the fallen posts of past, only to realize later that the deathbots had taken them too. So with a heavy heart, I transferred the DXD posts of past to 3.5 floppy disks, took them out back, and lit them on fire while pretending I was Luke Skywalker sending Vader off to the netherworlds of the force. (Hey, any excuse to play Amazing Grace on the bagpipes over a radio AmIRight?… o geez… I just did a Star Wars and a Star Trek reference in the same paragraph. DXD, taking nerding to new levels since 1985.)
Anyway, the old site’s dead. Welcome to the new site (ooooh shiny!)! What does having a new site mean? Well, let me tell you. It’s 96% more shiny. Hellz yea.
Aside from the shinyness (have I mentioned it’s shiny? I like shiny objects.), DXD is now less of a ‘informational Imma send ya to XYZ events’ and more of a ‘ooooh shiny’… wait no… more of a ‘personal blog/record of my interesting day to day everything’. That doesn’t mean you still won’t be getting the XYZ events from me (you better be following on Facebook and Twitter 0_0), you will. There’s gonna be more stuff. You like stuff right?
Anyways, here’s some stuff to tide you over till my next post (Which will probably be on the Occupy Denver Movement).
Thought of the day: If I could, I would take everyone who creates spam to a seppuku theme park.
